• Norton claims All-America honors with seventh-place finish at NCAAs

    Junior Paul Norton became the Brandeis men's cross country team's first All-American since 1999 today, finishing seventh overall out of 276 runners at the NCAA Division III championships in Cleveland. Norton helped the Judges to a 24th-place finish out of 32 teams.

    Thanks a third-place finish by junior Paul Norton, the Brandeis men's cross country team earned a return trip to the NCAA championships. The Judges came in fourth-place finish at regionals, with sophomores Marc Boutin and Chris Brown earning All-New England honors for the second year in a row.

    Junior Paul Norton had the best finish by a Brandeis runner at the University Athletic Association championships in five years, taking runner-up honors at the 2009 UAA championships hosted by Case Western Reserve. As a team, the Judges finished in fifth place, one spot down from a year ago.

    For the second time this season, three Brandeis student-athletes have earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors in the same week. Sophomore Scott Beaulac from the golf team, rookie Steven Milo of men's tennis and junior Paul Norton of men's cross country were all recognized by the association.

    Junior Paul Norton had one of the best finishes in recent memory at the 2009 Open New England cross country championships. In a field at Franklin Park boasting teams from Division I, II and III, Norton placed sixth overall out of 320 runners, second among DIII performers. Brandeis was 11th as a team, third in Division III.

    Running without the complete complement of their top seven, the Brandeis men's cross country team, ranked No. 21 in the nation in Division III, took third place out of 16 teams at the Connecticut College Invitational. Sophomores Chris Brown and Marc Boutin (pictured) both earned top-10 finishes.

    For the second time in as many years, the Brandeis cross country teams have earned national rankings at the same time. On the strength of their performances at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational, the Brandeis women entered the poll at No. 15, while the men checked in at No. 21.

    A trio of juniors, Tiffany Pacheco of women's soccer, Paul Norton of men's cross country and Rachel Rosman of women's tennis, have been selected as the first University Athletic Association athlete of the week selections from Brandeis for 2009-10.

    Running with a limited roste, the 13th-ranked Brandeis men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Junior Paul Norton finished the race third overall in 24:43.

    The Brandeis men's cross country team, ranked No. 13 in the nation in Division III, had the top five runners this afternoon as they opened the 2009 season with a 15-48 win over cross-town rival Bentley University. Junior Sam Donovan led the pack with a time of 19:54.
