Brandeis women's soccer huddles

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team dropped just its second road match in eight games tonight, as the Judges suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of University Athletic Association (UAA) foe Emory University. The Judges fall to 10-6 overall this season, 1-4 in the UAA. The Eagles – ranked 22nd in the nation by D3Soccer.com – improve to 11-4, 3-2 UAA.

The Judges entered the match with a 6-1 record on the road. They had the first good chance of the game, with sophomore Juliette Carreiro's (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) rifle shot ticketed for the far post knocked away by Emory senior goalkeeper Haley Pratt just over a minute into the game.

The Eagles scored the game-winning goal on their first shot of the game in the fourth minute, as Aubrey Blanchard took a feed from Jordan Fitzgerald and shot it inside the near post past Judge senior Victoria Richardson (Tolland, Conn./Tolland). Shots in the first half were close, 8-7, in favor of Emory, but Brandeis put six of their seven on frame, with Pratt making the saves.

The home team doubled their lead in the 55th minute, when Shivani Beall ricocheted one off the far post and in from the left corner of the 18-yard box. An own goal in the 65th minute and a score by LJ Kolodge in the 78th minute rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.

Richardson made four saves and allowed two goals in the first 62 minutes, while sophomore Rebecca Gold (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) had two saves and two goals allowed in the final 28 minutes. Pratt made eight saves to register her fifth shutout of the season. Judge senior Katie Hayes (Eau Claire, Wisc./Regis) had a team-leading three shots, two on goal.

The Judges will look to get back to their winning ways on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in a UAA contest against the University of Rochester.
