  • Bernstein nabs third team Capital One Academic All-America honors

    Recent grad Ezra Bernstein became the second Brandeis Capital One Academic All-American of 2011-12, earning third-team At Large honors. He joins Marianne Specker as an Academic All-American this year and Jon Cordish '90 as Brandeis men's tennis winners.

    Seniors Ezra Bernstein of Buffalo, N.Y., and Marianne Specker of South Windsor, Conn., were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and will be eligible for Academic All-America honors. Specker was a first-team selection in 2011.
  • Men's tennis defeats NYU, 5-4, but falls to Chicago, 7-2, to finish sixth in UAA

    The Brandeis men's tennis team won three-set matches at the top and bottom of the singles lineup to defeat NYU, 5-4, and snap a six-match losing streak in the process. Later in the day, they couldn't overcome the #30 Maroons, finishing the season with a 5-14 record.
  • Men's tennis drops UAA opener to No. 17 Washington U., 8-1

    The Judges fell to 0-8 against nationally-ranked foes this season with their loss to the Bears. Brandeis's lone point came at No. 2 doubles thanks to the team of Josh Jordan and Steven Milo. Brandeis will take on NYU in the consolation bracket.

  • Men's tennis bows to Tufts, 6-3, in final regular-season match

    Prior to their trip to the UAA Championships in Florida, the Brandeis men dropped a 6-3 decision on the road at Tufts. Juniors Josh Jordan and Steven Milo were responsible for all three Brandeis points. Milo was playing in his first singles action since mid-March.
  • Depth carries DI Bryant past men's tennis, 10-5

    With their entire rosters playing and counting as scoring matches, visiting Bryant University took advantage of their depth at the bottom of the lineup to defeat the Judges. Had the squads used traditional scoring, Brandeis would have taken a 5-4 win.
  • Doubles earns sweep, but #24 Trinity rallies for 5-4 win over men's tennis

    Despite winning all three doubles matches, the Brandeis men's tennis team couldn't hold off the 24th-ranked Bantams. Senior Ezra Bernstein was the squad's only double winner, teaming with junior David Yovanoff for a win at No. 1 doubles.
  • Secular wins at BC, but Judges drop a pair on the road

    The Brandeis men's tennis team got swept at No. 10-ranked Bowdoin, and fell to Division I Boston College despite wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles, where rookie Michael Secular won a tiebreaker for the Judges' first singles win over the Eagles under Ben Lamanna.
  • Men's tennis knocks off Coast Guard, 8-1

    Playing indoors in the Gosman Athletic Center, the Brandeis men's tennis team defeated visiting Coast Guard, 8-1. The squads played four tiebreakers between them, with the Judges winning three of them. Junior Josh Jordan had two tiebreakers in a three-setter to win the day's longest match.
  • Men's tennis fights back before No. 28 MIT prevails, 5-4

    Junior Josh Jordan won matches in both singles and doubles play, and the Judges fought back from 4-2 down to tie the match, but the Engineers won the longest match of the day to escape with the 5-4 victory.

    The Judges swept doubles and carried the momentum into singles play as they snapped a three-match losing streak with the win over the Beavers.

    The Judges suffered a sweep at the hands of head coach Ben Lamanna's alma mater, the No. 15 team in the nation. Senior Ezra Bernstein won the Judges' only set at No. 4 singles. Brandeis was playing without top player Steven Milo.

    Junior Steven Milo posted a 3-1 record, including an upset of the No. 11 player in the nation, as the Judges defeated UAA rival NYU, 6-3, before suffering an 8-1 loss to the hosts No. 7 Middlebury.

    Despite wins at the top and bottom of the order in singles action, the Brandeis men fell in their first dual match of the season. Junior captain Steven Milo took a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 1, while rookie Michael Secular won a marathon tiebreaker to capture a win at No. 6.

    Six standout athletes whose careers spanned the first half-century of Brandeis’ sports history will be inducted into the 14th class of the Joseph Linsey Brandeis Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on March 31 in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center on campus, Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa ’90 and Friends of Brandeis Athletics (FOBA) President Jim Leahy '85 announced.
