• Brandeis announces 2009 Hall of Fame class

    The Brandeis University Department of Athletics and the Friends of Brandeis Athletics (FOBA) are proud to announce the members of the Class of 2009 to the Brandeis Athletics Hall of Fame. The 13th Hall of Fame Class will be inducted at an 11:00 a.m. brunch ceremony at the Westin Hotel in Waltham on November 1.

    For the third time in his career, senior forward Ben Premo of the men's soccer team has been selected to the University Athletic Association All-Association team. Classmate Kevin Murphy and junior midfielder Corey Bradley were honorable mention honorees.

    Senior forward Ben Premo (Florence, Mass.) scored a goal in his final regular-season home game, but it wasn't enough as the Brandeis men fell to Carnegie Mellon, 2-1, in a UAA contest. It was also the last home game for classmate Kevin Murphy (Monson, Mass.).

    Brandeis junior Jaime Batista (Westford, Mass.) scored a late goal to break a scoreless tie and lead the Judges past Lasell College, 1-0. The game, originally slated to be played at Lasell, was moved to Gordon Field because of poor field conditions in Newton.

    The Brandeis men's soccer team battled visiting Case Western Reserve University, ranked No. 5 in the Great Lakes region, to a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on Gordon Field today. Brandeis moves to 6-5-1 (0-1-1 UAA), while Case is now 9-2-1 (1-0-1 UAA).

Junior Lee Bloom of West Hartford, Conn., was honored for golf; sophomore Rachel Rosman of Bonita Springs, Fla., for women's tennis; sophomore Paige Blasco of Greeley, Colo., for volleyball; and rookie Sean O'Hare of Southampton, Mass., for men's soccer.
