• Brandeis women's fencing puts four on All-Northeast Conference team

    Four members of Brandeis University women's fencing team's Northeast Fencing Conference championship squad were named to the All-NFC team. Junior saberist Anna Hanley and junior epeeist Emma Larkin were first-team selections, while rookies Vikki Nunley, a foil fencer, and Zoe Messenger, also a sabre fencer, were second-team choices.

    Facing their New England rivals at the 2010 Beanpot tournament, the Brandeis women struggled, dropping all three matches. They fell to BC, 14-13, in the final match, while dropping an 18-9 decision to MIT and a 20-7 defeat at the hands of Harvard.

    The Brandeis women's fencing team earned a third-place finish overall at the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference (NEIFC) championships. The Judges were led by the epee squad, which finished second overall.

    Results from the 2010 Eric Sollee Fencing Invitational (formerly the Brandeis/MIT Invitational) are available here! Scores will be posted at the end of each round. The Brandeis women went 5-0 on the day, upending #8 Penn, 14-13, and earning the UAA crown, 15-12, over NYU. The men went 1-4 with a win over Hunter College.
  • Women's fencing downs Wellesley, 18-9, to improve to 13-5

    The saber and foil squads each produced wins tonight as the Brandeis women's fencing team defeated rival Wellesley, 18-9, on the road. Rookie Vikki Nunley and senior Julia Mouk led the Judges to a 7-2 foil victory, while juniors Anna Hanley and Alex Turner (pictured) paced the saber squad to an 8-1 mark.

    Three Brandeis student-athletes were named University Athletic Association Player of the Week for Jan. 24. Senior Terrell Hollins was honored for men's basketball, while juniors Emma Larkin and Grayce Selig were recognized for women's fencing and women's track and field, respectively.

    The Brandeis women's fencing team claimed its second-straight Northeast Fencing Conference crown on Jan. 23, as the Judges went 6-0 on the day to complete a 12-0 league slate. Junior epee Emma Larkin went 11-1 on the afternoon, including the decisive victory in a 14-13 win over Brown, who was also unbeaten at the time.

Senior Kenny Small was recognized for men's basketball, while juniors Lucia Capano and Anna Hanley were honored for women's track and field and women's fencing, respectively.

    Despite a fine outing by junior NCAA qualifier Anna Hanley, who went 13-2 in 15 matches, the Brandeis women's fencing team lost all five matches at the 2009 Brandeis Invitational. The Judges' narrowest match was a 14-13 loss at the hands of North Caroline, though the saber squad went 3-2 on the afternoon.

    Juniors Alex Dalrymple and Emma Larkin won bronze in foil and epee competitions, while fellow junior Anna Hanley and sophomore Emily Mandel took fifth place in sabre and epee respectively at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference Fall Invitational.

    Brandeis graduate Tim Morehouse '00 had one once-in-a-lifetime experience when he earned a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
